This biography from Michelle T. King tells the story of Fu Pei-mei, the woman who brought Chinese cooking to the world.

Stories from the author’s own family are intertwined with the story of Fu’s life. Fu Pei-mei was a young mother in the 1950s who wanted to feed her family nutritious meals that also tasted good. The only problem… she didn’t cook.

By 1962, however, she was on Taiwan Television with a cooking show. The show lasted almost 40 years and Fu’s cookbooks, written in both Chinese and English, have taught many how to cook authentic meals.

If you’re a kitchen history buff, this book will be a welcome addition.
