Interview with Luke Chmilenko, Author of Savage Dominion: The Complete Collection

• Bookmarks: 19

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Savage Dominion: The Complete Collection?

For this story, it was my connection with Graeme (GD) that caused this book to come to life! Over the last few years they’d been cooking up this story in the back of their heads and as luck happened we started to share a few ideas with one another. It wasn’t long before we both realized we had a great idea here and went all in on it!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Yes it is! I am a die hard favorite of the LitRPG and Progression Fantasy genres and I can’t get enough of it at the moment! I just love seeing how the characters develop – and what interesting powers they obtain during the stories. This is definitely a genre where the journey is magnitudes more exciting than the destination.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Right now I am re-reading ‘The First Binding’ by R.R Virdi and then my pile is empty! I’ll need to try and find something new after I’m done!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Honestly – the first opening chapter was our favorite! Typically in the past we wrote rather reserved and formally – this was a great book for us to dip into our irreverent sides and just let our inner voices go.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I like to walk and write! Lately I’ve been getting the majority of my day’s writing done while on the treadmill! I know it’s a little strange, but it’s certainly been working well!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“I can do this” – it’s an easy way to ground myself when the work and responsibilities get a bit overwhelming and hasn’t failed me yet!

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That it was fun! More than anything I hope that readers enjoy the stories that I put out, especially my funnier ones! If I managed to get you to smile or laugh at least once during a book, I consider it a huge victory!
