Baldur’s Gate 3 Will No Longer Let You Rip Off Merchants After New Hotfix

• Bookmarks: 6

While Baldur’s Gate 3‘s last patch was a huge file that added a heap of new content and features, its latest hotfix is just a small one. Hotfix 13 is live now, fixing some bugs that impacted merchant transactions, among a few other issues.

“Traders across Faerûn have been coming to us, claiming that enterprising adventurers have been ‘pulling a fast one on them,'” the patch notes read. “We’ve had a word with their guild, and made them aware of your tricks.”

Now Playing: Baldur’s Gate 3 Everything to Know

The exploit in question was likely introduced in Patch 5, and allowed players to buy as much stock as they wanted from a merchant with a single gold coin and a container. The hotfix will also mop up other errors that can occur in merchant transactions that involve containers.

The patch also fixes a crash that can happen at the end of Act 2, as well as “peacefully resolving the Knights of the Shield situation on PS5” to improve performance on the console.

Baldur’s Gate 3 won a number of awards at The Game Awards tonight, including Game of the Year (as well as being chosen as GameSpot’s own Game of the Year). After a delay in the game coming to Xbox, Larian also stealth released Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Xbox Series X|S during the awards ceremony.
