2023 Booooooom Photo Awards

• Bookmarks: 11

Calling all photographers! The Booooooom Photo Awards are back and open for submissions! We have 5 award categories to submit to: Portrait, Nature, Street, Colour, Shadows. We’re going even bigger this year with the help of our friends at Format. We’ll be awarding each category winner a $1,000 USD cash prize, editorial and social coverage, and a feature in a printed publication. We also have 3 Format websites with lifetime subscriptions up for grabs.

Format is an online portfolio builder specializing in the needs of photographers, artists, and designers. Unlike other web builders, Format’s portfolio and studio management tools are specifically designed to meet the needs of creative professionals. With nearly 100 professionally designed website templates and thousands of design variables, you can showcase your work your way, with no coding required. The Workflow studio management tools allow you to create branded client proofing galleries, transfer files and more. You can also sell your work commission free through the Format store feature. If you want to learn more about Format, check out their website here or start a 14-day free trial.

Everyone is welcome to submit one image to these awards for FREE. Members enjoy unlimited submissions and unlimited images for all award categories. If you want to submit more than one image or compete in multiple categories, consider becoming a member here!

Don’t miss out! This is your chance to get your work seen – and not just by our own Booooooom community! In addition to the $5,000 USD in cash prizes and bragging rights, all 5 winners (and 20 shortlisted photographers) will be featured in, and receive a copy of, a special mini photo publication. Designed specifically to showcase your work, this zine will not be for sale but will be sent to curators and editors we respect. Winners and runners-up will also receive editorial coverage on Booooooom and promotion across all our social channels.

AWARD CATEGORIES

  1. PORTRAIT – Human subjects are the focus here.
  2. NATURE – Images related to land, sea, sky, the natural world.
  3. STREET – Street photography is generally understood to be candid unposed moments of everyday life in public spaces. Images may spontaneous and chaotic or they may be more quiet observations.
  4. COLOUR – Images may feature one colour or an explosion of many. Or maybe they capture a few that feel in perfect harmony with one another. How can you make the viewer notice the colour first?
  5. SHADOWS – Silhouettes and dark shapes. Change your focus from the things that cast the shadows to the shadows themselves.
