‘Wordle’ #1,189 Hints, Clues and Answer for Friday, September 20 Game

People all over the world love playing Wordle and the game has remained popular since it first went public in 2021.

Keegan-Michael Key, the Emmy Award-winning star of Key & Peele, last year teamed up with the New York Times—the newspaper bought the game from its inventor, Josh Wardle in January 2022—to invite players to compete against him in their game group chats.

“There’s a fun sense of accomplishment that comes with starting the day solving a New York Times game,” Key said in 2023.

Even comedy legends and co-stars of Apple TV+ series Palm Royale, Carol Burnett and Allison Janney compared their results almost every day. Burnett described the game as “fun.”

“Allison and I, we Wordle,” Burnett told Entertainment Tonight in April 2023. “We just Wordle back and forth.”

Other celebrities who apparently love Wordle have included Taylor Swift, Meghan Markle and Bradley Cooper.

Wordle involves guessing a five-letter word in six attempts or fewer. Players start by typing in a word. They then use the process of elimination to solve the puzzle.

A colored tile system helps along the way, letting you know if you’re on the right track. A green tile means the letter is in the word and in the correct spot. A yellow tile means the letter is in the word but in the wrong location. And a gray tile means the letter is not in the word at all.
