Woman Woken at 2 A.M., Looks Out Window, Sight Is ‘Not What You Expect’

Pet parents know there is almost no such thing as a full night’s rest. Between the meowing or late-night zoomies, something is bound to wake you up.

TikTok user @jauntyjoss fell victim to a middle of the night wake-up call, but instead of it coming from a pet of her own, the noise was outside. She got out of bed to investigate, and when she looked outside her window to see the cause of the commotion she was stunned. To her surprise, it was “not what you expect to see” in the dead of night.

A herd of sheep was roaming the middle of the street at 2 a.m. At first, it looked like just a few were between her home and the neighbors across the street, but as she panned the camera to the rest of the street, she saw dozens more roaming around.

The caption on the September 17 clip reads: “Someone lost their 🐑.”

The sheep looked as if they were on a leisurely nocturnal stroll, with no rush to the next location. The video did not show anyone leading the pack, so the mystery remains: Where did the sheep come from?

Even though the sheep woke up the neighborhood, they did their stroll at a reasonable time since they wouldn’t cause a traffic jam. It was late enough that most people didn’t need to get in or out of the driveway and street.

Not every sheep herd is as generous with people’s schedules. Sheep will sometimes cause a traffic jam as they take their time moving from one spot to the next, and there’s nothing you can do about it. If you ever encounter such a crossing, keep your distance and be patient.

Newsweek reached out to @jauntyjoss via TikTok for additional information.

The TikTok video amassed over 175,500 views, 20,000 likes and 504 comments as of Monday.

“Omg. [There’s] so many more than I expected,” commented one viewer.

Another said: “Little Bo Peep got some explaining to do.”

Others tried determining how many sheep filled the street, but they kept falling asleep as this took “counting sheep to the next level.”

Looking on the positive side, one person wrote: “And everyone had beautifully short lawns the next morning.”
