Unique Holiday Traditions Gift Guide

• Bookmarks: 1

For many people, celebrating the winter holidays means marking it in eccentric and sometimes downright inexplicable ways.

Some holiday-time traditions are so classic that they tend to serve as shorthand for the season: baking cookies, lighting a menorah or kinara, ice skating as a light snow falls. But many of us also have rituals that are specific to us and our loved ones, whether stemming from a blending of cultural or religious traditions or from a desire to do something different. Or maybe you don’t even know how your particular tradition started, but you do it every year without fail.

We want to hear about your favorite unusual holiday activities and how they make you feel — in no more than 100 words. Do you have a special way of exchanging gifts? Is there a certain food or drink that you make each year that has a specific meaning or a surprising origin story? Is there something else you do that feels exclusive to your family? Tell us about it in the form below.

We may reach out to hear more about your submission, but we will not publish any part of your response without contacting you first and we will never publicly share your personal information.
