Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the site-related news and best community creations from the previous week.
Unfortunately, this week saw Giant Bomb’s original programming needing to be delayed or rescheduled because of more people coming down with illnesses following PAX West 2024. Everyone is making a recovery and the staff hope to be back to the normal grind soon, but many thanks to the well wishes to Grubb and Mike in particular for you all.
Friendly reminder that friend of the site, Drew Scanlon did their yearly charity streaming fundraiser with Vinny for Bike MS last weekend, a charity that funds treatment and research for multiple sclerosis. Drew raised over $30,000, and they are still taking donations for those that missed the streams, and you can catch the VODs on their YouTube account.
However, the biggest update this week stems from the RSS feed and premium podcast feed. @turboshawn spent days looking at and working on the issue and discovered that Giant Bomb’s video host was having issues earlier this week, so he couldn’t post the episode page to the site at all. It’s up now, and the premium version of the podcast should be available as well. For those of you that noticed that yesterday’s Dumptruck premium was yesterday’s GMM, the problem has been resolved as well.
Now, for those of you that use PocketCasts, things have continued to be up and down, but here’s what Shawn is advising. If you have sudden issues first go to this page https://www.giantbomb.com/feeds/ and click “RSS” to the right of “Giant Bombcast (Premium)” (in a desktop browser, sometimes mobile redirects it to an app). Look for the text in the first couple “paragraphs” of “Most of the usual crew was out this week, so guest host Tam brings in Shawn, Niki, and Mike” (you can just search with CTRL+F). If it’s there, the RSS feed is working properly for you and it’s a Pocket Casts thing (maybe re-submit it at https://pocketcasts.com/submit/).
Luckily, we recently confirmed that the Premium version of the Bombcast rolled out to Pocket Casts, but you’ll have to re-download the new version of the RSS feed. If you are still having issues with your feed, the issue is likely on Pocket Cast’s end heard but their customer support tends to be pretty good about manually fixing things on their end if you reach out.
Finally, we are coming up to the end of Giant Bomb’s 16th Anniversary video shorts. This week Jeff Grubb shared his favorite Giant Bomb moment from his tenure, and there’s one more video coming up soon.

I think at some point in the last few months, @JeffGrubb mentioned “Glen Powell Skibidi Toilet” so I made this but forgot about it until now.
