Microsoft has finally launched ‘Windows App’ for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, web browsers, and Windows.
The new app is a replacement for Microsoft Remote Desktop, which gives users access to a copy of their Windows on a different desktop or server. The new ‘Windows App’ does something similar, but with more benefits and more alternative devices to choose from.
It’s also important to note that the new app is a complete replacement for Microsoft Remote Desktop. So, if you already have the latter installed, it will automatically be updated to Windows App.

The ‘Windows App’ ensures that you no longer have to sit at your Windows desktop to access unique Windows features – they will now be available to you on other devices of your choice.

What sets it apart from the previous Remote Desktop app is that it comes with better home screen customization options, multi-monitor support, USB redirection, and better device management for IT administrators. Even managing multiple accounts and switching when needed is quite convenient here.
The app also supports the version of Windows 365 for frontline workers and Microsoft’s “Relayed RDP Shortpath,” which is used to enable Remote Desktop on networks that normally don’t allow it.

- Redirecting devices such as webcams, storage devices, and printers
Apple users will find the app in the App Store, and Windows users can access it from the Microsoft Store. If you don’t want to install the app on your device (for storage reasons, etc.), you can access it directly from the web.
