Marvel’s Thunderbolts*: Everything We Know So Far

The next Marvel team-up is here. In the new trailer for Thunderbolts*, Florence Pugh and David Harbour reunite alongside the MCU‘s greatest antiheroes. “Someone wants us gone,” Pugh’s Yelena Bolova tells the crew. If only they knew why!

While Marvel fans wait to get their answers (including why Thunderbolts* has an asterisk in its title), it seems that Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) isn’t on their side just yet. Before Barnes begins hunting our new team, Bolova (Pugh) and Red Guardian (Harbour) find themselves in a room with Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), newcomer “Bob” (Lewis Pullman), and a whole mess of questions. You can watch the first teaser below.

The trailer was first shown at Comic-Con in San Diego back in July. In the footage—which is set to a creepy cover of “Where Is My Mind?”—the group meets up with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is seemingly the Nick Fury of this film. In case you were wondering: In the comics, Thunderbolt Ross (now played by Harrison Ford) helps put together the team of reformed villains known as the Thunderbolts, who operate in a similar fashion to DC’s Suicide Squad. However, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told the Comic-Con audience that Ross will not appear in the film.

Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Steven Yeun (Beef) were both originally set to join the MCU, but both actors ended up pulling out due to scheduling conflicts. Pullman replaced Yeun, but Edebiri’s original role remains undisclosed. Thunderbolts* is set for a May 5, 2025, release, so be on the lookout for more info as next summer approaches.
