No matter what someone’s wellness routine looks like, it’s a safe bet that they spend at least some time thinking about how to get a restful night of sleep. In fact, a recent Gallup poll revealed that more than half of Americans surveyed said they would feel better if they got more sleep.

With so many of us obsessing over our sleep, it’s no wonder that the hunt for the best sleep products, from cooling sheets to weighted blankets, can feel overwhelming. Your pillow is one of the most crucial parts of your bedtime setup, so when we got the chance to test Coop’s The Original Adjustable Pillow ($75), three editors eagerly raised our hands.

Unlike traditional pillows, Coop’s version is customizable. The pillow’s packaging lays out three ways to try it: as-is, for side sleepers; with about one-quarter of the memory foam fill removed, for back sleepers; and with about one-third of the memory foam film removed, for stomach sleepers. It even comes with extra memory foam fill, if you prefer a plusher feel.

What’s the Criteria for a Good Pillow?

On the most basic level, a good pillow needs to help you get a quality night of sleep. A pillow that’s comfortable and provides proper neck alignment — neither cranked upward nor tilting downward — is key.

Coop’s proprietary blend of medium firm memory-foam-and-microfiber fill looked promising, so three editors took it for a spin over the course of a week. Read on for their full reviews of Coop’s The Original Adjustable Pillow — and find out if their sleep patterns changed at all.
