Brad Pitt, Courteney Cox and Pink Help Raise $1 Million for EBMRF: Inside the Rock4EB! Benefit

Brad Pitt, Courteney Cox, Pink, Elizabeth Olsen and Kaley Cuoco were among the celeb guests at Saturday’s seventh Rock4EB! fundraiser.

The event, which took place at talent manager Marc Gurvitz’s Malibu home, raised more than $1 million for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF). The charity aims to increase research and awareness of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare and life-threatening skin disease characterized by blister formation after minor trauma to the skin as well as scarring and disfiguring of the skin and internal organs.

The event was spearheaded by manager Andrea Pett-Joseph, whose 20-year-old Brandon Joseph was diagnosed with EB when he was an infant.

Cox, a longtime friend of the Josephs (the “Scream” star’s manager is Pett-Joseph’s sister Cynthia Pett-Dante), is an honorary board member of EBMRF. She recalled being told about Brandon’s diagnosis. “I didn’t understand it and I didn’t know anything about it,” Cox told Variety. “I think that’s the reason why these events are so important to get the word out.”

Cox helps book the musical act for the event. Pink performed this year with You + Me partner Dallas Green, and her daughter Willow Sage also joined to duet “Cover Me in Sunshine.” Past performances have been given by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Brandi Carlile. “The fact that I reached out to Pink’s manager and she said yes right away is such a blessing,” Cox said. “She’s on tour right now but she’s just that kind of a giving person. It was not even question.”

Before the evening came to a close, Cox was thinking about who to book next year. “It helps if I know the person,” she said. “It always helps when [musician] Johnny [McDaid], my partner, has written with them.”

Has he written with Taylor Swift? “He has not,” Cox said. “But I know Taylor. She’s a great girl.”

Saturday’s lineup also included emcee Judd Apatow, a raunchy NSFW standup set by comedian Jim Jeffries and a live auction hosted by Billy Harris.

The guest list on Saturday also included Kim Basinger, AJ Michalka and Aly Michalka, Charlie Hunnam, Damien Chazelle and Jackson Browne.

Food and drink stations were provided by Nobu, Factor’s Deli, Prince Street Pizza, Pink’s, Lucky’s, Broad Street Oyster Co., Tramonto Bistro, Shappy Pretzel Co., Drx Cupcake, Jennifer Naylor and Hall Napa Valley, El Cristiano 1761 Tequilla, Zen WTR, Blue Ice Vodka and Coffee Been & Tea Leaf.
