Perry Farrell Is Seeking Treatment Following Jane’s Addiction Onstage Outburst

Perry Farrell is seeking medical treatment following a recent onstage outburst that left many concerned.

The Jane’s Addiction frontman’s wife Etty Lau Farrell thanked fans for their support in a statement on Sunday morning, assuring followers that her husband “will recover” after physically attacking his bandmate Dave Navarro at a show last weekend.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she wrote in part on Instagram. “Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.

“With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled,” added Etty Lau.

In YouTube footage from the band’s Friday the 13th concert in Boston, the vocalist could be seen shoving and throwing a punch at Navarro before the lights dimmed on the venue and the show abruptly ended.

“F— you!” Farrell could be heard yelling at Navarro after leading the crowd in a chant during a performance of their 1988 track ‘Ocean Size’. Navarro held his guitar up to defend himself before crew members rushed onstage to pull Farrell off him.

Etty Lau shared a “firsthand account” of what went down on Instagram, explaining that the band started the song “before Perry was ready and did the count off.”

“Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic,” she wrote. “Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and body checked him.”

Etty Lau added, “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

Following the incident, Farrell apologized for his “inexcusable behavior” in a statement, announcing the cancellation of their 23-city co-headlining tour with Love and Rockets.
