Tia Mowry reveals she’s no longer ‘close’ with sister Tamera following her divorce

Tia Mowry is getting candid about her relationship with twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley.

In a teaser for her new reality show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act,” the actor said that she and her sister have grown apart following her divorce from Cory Hardrict.

“I came into this world with a twin and right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship so I have never been alone in my life. It has been quite a journey,” she said.

“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” Mowry added. “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her.”

TODAY.com reached out to Tamera Mowry for comment on Tia’s remarks but did not hear back at the time of publication.

Online, some fans said they were shocked to learn that the Mowry sisters were not as cool as they used to be.

One person shared a clip of Janet Jackson’s character in “Why Did I Get Married Too?” telling her friends to fix their marriages after she learned her spouse had died following an argument they had.

“Wym tia and tamera not close anymore? uh uhhh,” they said.

Another person shared the same exact clip and wrote, “Literally breaks my heart to hear Tia say her and Tamera aren’t close anymore. Yall are TWINS.”

However, some social media users didn’t appear to be surprised by the news.

“Tia and Tamera not being close anymore doesn’t shock me at all for some reason i’ve never seen twins more polar opposite than them two,” one person wrote on X.

Another said, “NO shade to Tia, if you watched her & Tamera show back in the day she was not the nicest to Tamera.. soo it’s not shocking that they aren’t close even being family you can’t expect to treat ppl a certain way continually & still have the privilege to be close to them.”

Mowry’s comments come after her sister praised her for leaving Hardrict. In a November 2022 interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Mowry-Housley said Mowry is now “living her authentic, true self” as a single woman, adding that she’s “glowing.”

“I told her, ‘I’m so proud of you, because you are showing other women — and hell, even men — that you walk in your truth, and look what happens. No matter what,’” she said.

In April 2023, Mowry finalized her divorce from Hardrict following 14 years of marriage. The pair share their two kids, Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6, together.

In Mowry’s new reality show, she’ll be opening up about her life after divorce. On Instagram, Mowry explained why she wanted to invite cameras back into her home following her 2011 reality TV show, “Tia & Tamera,” which only ran for three seasons.

“I didn’t know if another reality show was in the cards for me, but I felt this pull to share my journey with you all. ‘Tia Mowry: My Next Act’ is coming October 4th to @wetv and I’m beyond excited for you to see it! 💛,” she said.

“Life is full of transitions — whether it’s a new job, moving to a new city, or even ending a relationship. And let’s be real, these moments can feel scary, lonely, and sometimes even like a failure. But here’s the thing: change is constant, and it’s part of our growth. 🌱 I’ve been through these shifts and often felt like I was navigating them solo.
