Women’s wrestling is better than it’s ever been, with countless female wrestlers having excellent matches across all promotions that are often considered the best of the year.
However, there is still a lack of championships for women to win in WWE. In Raw and SmackDown!, there are a total of three titles a female wrestler could win: the WWE Women’s Championship, the Women’s World Championship, and the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
This means only four women on the main roster could hold championships at a time. While WWE has recently introduced the WWE Women’s Speed Championship, that feels minor due to its exclusivity to appearing on X.
Fortunately, a rumor has been circulating for a while that WWE is considering the creation of a Women’s Intercontinental Title and a Women’s United States Title.

While nothing has been confirmed by WWE proper, multiple superstars have spoken out in support of the new belts, including current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair.
During an appearance on the ‘Battleground Podcast,’ Belair revealed that she thinks a women’s mid-card title would be a great way to show off all the talent on the roster.
“I think we’re at a point in time where our roster is so stacked. Before you had, like, a few that were at the very, very top and they were out there every single show and having all of the matches, and now you kind of look at WrestleMania, a couple of months before, you kind of know, ‘This person’s going to be in ‘Mania,'” Belair said.
“I think our roster is at a time now where you don’t know who’s going to be at ‘Mania and everybody’s trying to fight for a spot on the card. I feel like another title would really highlight the true talent of our division.”
Additionally, current NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez shared the sentiment on the ‘Masked Man Show’ podcast, comparing it to the NXT Women‘s North American Championship.
“I would love that,” Perez said. “Honestly, I remember it was right before my match, I was about to go out, and they announced the NXT Women’s North American Championship. And I remember, I started tearing up and like, I got chills, because it was just such a cool moment.”
“It’s like, ‘Wow, this is what every single woman in wrestling has been fighting for years and years and years.’ And now we finally got it. So, yeah, I think they should just start doing that on the main roster. I think we should get a mid-card title.”
A women’s mid-card title would mean a lot in WWE, allowing more female wrestlers the opportunity to perform and show their skills. After all, some of the greatest male wrestlers of all time started as Intercontinental or US Champions.
