WGA East Elects 13 New Council Members


The Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) has revealed the results of its 2024 council election, electing 13 new members to the leadership team.

The council consist of 20 members: 12 film/tv/streaming members, five online media members, three broadcast/cable/streaming news members, and five officers, including president, secretary-treasurer and three vice presidents, each representing one work sector. For this election, open positions included online media vice president, broadcast/cable/streaming news vice president, six film/TV/streaming positions, two online media positions and three broadcast/cable/streaming news positions.

Sara David was elected vice president of the online media sector. Beth Godvik was elected vice president of the broadcast/cable/streaming news sector. Monica Lee Bellais, Larry J Cohen, Don P. Hooper, Victoria Pollack, Celine Robinson and Suzanne Weber were elected as council members representing the film/TV/streaming members. Susan Rinkunas and Jessica Schulberg were elected to rep online media members. And Justin DiLauro, Gail Lee and Phil Pilato were elected for broadcast/cable/streaming news members.

Per the WGAE, among film/TV/streaming members, votes were cast by 14.23% of eligible voters (4,251). For the online media sector, votes were cast by 6.3% of eligible voters (2,176). And in broadcast/cable/streaming news, the 2024 votes were cast by 11.07% of eligible voters (1,228). The ballot count for the WGAE council election was supervised by eBallot.
