Donald Trump Admits Kamala Harris ‘Honeymoon’ Drives Him Crazy

• Bookmarks: 1

Former President Donald Trump has admitted that Vice President Kamala Harris‘ “honeymoon” period drives him “crazy”.

During an interview on Fox NewsFox & Friends Wednesday morning, the Republican presidential nominee was asked about Harris riding a wave of impressive fund raising and positive polling numbers.

“The honeymoon for Kamala Harris, it must drive you crazy because it’s still going on,” Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy asked Trump.

“It does,” Trump replied, before launching into a tirade against his rival for the White House.

Newsweek has contacted the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email.

Trump’s on-air confession comes as Harris took the lead in all national polling averages this week.

As of Wednesday, Harris was enjoying a 0.2 percent point margin over Trump, according to RealClearPolitics – the first time a Democrat has led the race, said the aggregator.

VoteHub’s poll aggregator also gave Harris a 0.2 percent lead.

The Economist‘s aggregator had Harris at 47 percent to Trump’s 46 percent whilst Race to the White House showed her at 47.6 percent with Trump at 46.3 percent.

Trump’s frustration may also stem from his apparent difficulty in finding a clear attack line on the vice president.

Whilst he was able to effectively target President Joe Biden with lines such as “Sleepy Joe,” his most recent attempt to stick Harris with a nickname of her own – “Kamabla,” appears to have fallen somewhat flat.

Trump was also asked on Fox & Friends to give his reaction to Harris’ choice for vice president – Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

“I can’t believe it,” Trump said. “I never thought this was going to be the one that was picked.”

“He’s a very liberal man and he is a shocking pick and I’m thrilled. I could not be more thrilled,” the former president added.

Harris announced the former teacher and National Guard veteran as her running mate on Tuesday. Walz saw off other contenders such as Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.

Whilst Harris and Walz appear to be riding high on a wave of enthusiasm (at least, for now), Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance have been beset by rumors that Trump is less than happy with his pick for vice president – rumors which Trump campaign director, Steven Cheung, denied in a statement shared with Newsweek.

“President Trump is thrilled with the choice he made with Senator Vance, and they are the perfect team to take back the White House. And any reporting to the contrary is nothing but ridiculous fake news from either non-existent sources or individuals who have no idea what’s going on,” the statement read.
