Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich (2-2) LIVE commentary: Jude Bellingham aims to end Harry Kane’s first trophy hopes – UK kick-off time, team news and talkSPORT coverage

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will meet for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final this week, live on talkSPORT.

The two European giants could not be separated in the opening clash, with the game ending 2-2 thanks to a late equaliser from Vinicius Junior

It means the tie remains wide open and now Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who secured the La Liga title over the weekend, have the home advantage.

Harry Kane is still waiting for his first trophy and Bayern have to win this game away at the 14-time champions to keep hopes of silverware alive.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: Bellingham pesters Kane

One of the main headlines after the first leg between the two was Jude Bellingham seemingly trash-talking Kane before he took a penalty.

As the England captain set up his spot-kick, his international teammate leaned over him and appeared to be shouting something in his ear.

Kane would score so the pestering failed to work and that may be because the striker admitted he didn’t hear what Bellingham was ‘mumbling’ at him.

The pair will meet again, this time at the Bernabeu, and they will be aiming to lead their teams to the final.

After scoring in the first leg, Kane overtook Steven Gerrard and David Beckham in the record books and now he is on the brink of doing the same to Wayne Rooney

If he scores again in this game or the final should he make it, it will be his 30th in the Champions League and he will equal Rooney as the competition’s all-time English top scorer.

  • Across their previous seven semi-final ties in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, FC Bayern München (4) have progressed on more occasions than Real Madrid (3). However, should los Blancos progress here, it would be the first time a team has won three consecutive semi-final ties in this fixture (2013-14 and 2017-18 previously).
  • Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with FC Bayern München in the UEFA Champions League (W6 D2), while they haven’t lost any of their last seven games against them in the competition at the Santiago Bernabeu (W6 D1).

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: Team news

Real Madrid will be boosted by the return of Dani Carvajal who missed the first leg as he was serving a suspension.

He will likely start at right-back while Thibaut Courtois won’t start despite coming back from injury and playing at the weekend.

Andriy Lunin will keep his place in goal with David Alaba the only definite absentee.

As for Bayern, Raphael Guerreiro has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury.

Eric Dier is expected to overcome a bloody heady injury that he suffered at the weekend and Matthijs de Ligt is closing in on a return to action.

However, Kingsley Coman and Sacha Boey both remain sidelined for the second leg.

  • FC Bayern München’s run of 16 consecutive games without a clean sheet against Real Madrid is their longest against an opponent in their European Cup/UEFA Champions League history. Their last shutout against the Spanish side in the competition was back in May 2001, which also came at this stage of the competition (semi-final, first leg).
  • Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t lost any of his nine meetings with FC Bayern München in the UEFA Champions League (W6 D3) – following the 2-2 draw in this first leg, this is now the most times a coach has faced an opponent while remaining unbeaten in the history of the competition.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: What has been said?

Ahead of the second leg, Real boss Ancelotti was asked whether he would start Courtois over Lunin in the final should they make it.

“We’re not thinking about the Champions League final. We’re only thinking about Wednesday’s final,” he said.

“What might happen in a month’s time, we’ll see. Hopefully, we can think about it, because that will mean we’re in the final in London.

“The injury is eight months old and what a footballer lacks is the reading of what happens on the pitch.

“The reading is different from a defender and a goalkeeper. Everyone has their own adaptation process. One does it before and one after.

“It’s something we’ll have to evaluate.”

  • Real Madrid’s opener in the first leg (scored by Vinícius Júnior) came at the end of a 20-pass sequence; their longest for a goal in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages since May 2018, which came against FC Bayern München at the Santiago Bernabeu (28 passes leading to a Karim Benzema goal).
  • FC Bayern München failed to win away from home in the round of 16 (0-1 v Lazio) and quarter-finals (2-2 v Arsenal) in the UEFA Champions League this season. They haven’t gone three consecutive away games without a win in a single campaign since 2015-16 (3); a season in which they were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Atlético de Madrid.
